This all started as a bunch of letter written using a squared paper as a guide. It all turned out fine, but there was something that wasn't quite right...it was boring! I took all the letters and grunge it all up and did all the drips as well - and suddenly that boring look was gone!

That was an unlikely development!

It is an ideal font for comics and books for children as it has an informal style and is very easy to read.

Begum Sans is a high-contrast design. Its letterforms feature horizontal strokes that flair outwards and look a bit like wedges; this is particularly prominent in the typeface’s capital letters. The feature has a long tradition in lettering, which even predates typography: similar wedge-shaped horizontal strokes were prominent features on Florentine inscriptional lettering during the Renaissance. Even though Begum Sans is a display face, its use isn’t limited to headlines.
